Fired From Work? Starting Your Own Business? Give It Your Best Shot

Every recession sees an increase in the number of self employed individuals. Those who have been fired from their jobs are not going to sit idle at home all the time. If attempts to find a good job fail, they will try to earn money on their own. Not always succeed but most of us do try before giving up. It is very important to guard yourself against an ultra defensive mindset when starting your business.

Many persons start their business just to keep themselves busy. They have absolutely no expectations of earning any money from the same. Well, you may not be lucky enough to earn money despite thinking that it is not possible. Hence, you should be prepared to give it your best shot if you are keen on starting your own business.

Try to focus on any skill or product that you can offer independently. Offering a service is easier, especially if it is based on your personal skills and talents. You may have made project reports for your firm’s client in the past. You can offer this service for others as a consultant. There will be a huge shift in the way you work and the way you assess your work profile.

You will not have specific instructions and a clear mandate about nature of work to be provided. Now, you will have to start from scratch and cover each and every aspect ranging from marketing to recovery of payables and getting customer feedback.

On the flip side, each and every cent that you get from the customer is your own. There is no need to sacrifice bulk of your earnings and take a small portion home as your salary. Hence, give the business your best shot and hope for the best. Who knows, you may discover that being fired was the best thing that ever happened to you.
